On March 29, 1790, John Tyler was born in Charles County, Virginia. He served as the 10th president of the United States from 1841 to 1845. He succeeded to the presidency upon the death of William Henry Harrison. Tyler's first wife died while he was president, and he remarried before the end of his term in office, becoming the first president to marry while in office. Fifteen children were born during the two marriages. He died in Richmond, Virginia, on January 18, 1862.
