On April 13, 1743, Thomas Jefferson was born in Albermarle County, Virginia. He was the third president of the United States, and he served from 1801 to 1809. He loved to play the violin, and he practiced four hours each day. He had bright red hair, which earned him the nickname "Red Fox." One of his unusual habits was to wash his feet in cold water every morning so that he wouldn't get sick. He died in Charlottesville, Virginia on July 4, 1826.
